(By: XiYunguan, OFRC)

According to the project work plan, Mr. Xi Yunguan from OFRC has finished recently a report on analysis on the financial resource for setting up organic farming sites in China. The following are the 7 main approaches for units or individuals dealing in organic farming to obtain financial support.

1. Government Support for Organic Production

The sites in need of organic conversion should get to know the local support policies on organic farming development, then apply for the conversion support to policy making sectors such as Shanghai Vegetable Leading Office,Jiangsu Environmental Protection Department and so on.

2. The Input on Organic Farming In the Form of Science Research Project

The sites in organic conversion should pay great attention to the scientific and technical projects issued by newspaper, TV and Internet. At present, most projects invite public bidding through inviting and entering a bid.

3. The Company¡¯s Input on Organic Production

At present, the processing and trading companies are the main form for organic farming development in China, and a large part of sites are running in the form of company plus farming household as well as the company renting operation, that is, the company pays all fees concerning organic production as planning, consultation and certification, etc.

4. The State-owned Farm¡¯s Input on Organic Production

In China, there still exist many state-owned farms such as Nongicen Farms who own their advantages in technology, capital, farmland capital constructions, virescence, etc. Under this condition, the farms can support organic conversion with their own capital.

5. The Privately Owned Company¡¯s Input on Organic Farming

At present, a lot of privately owned companies invest in farming, running farms by renting farmland. Part of these companies involve in organic production and they can undertake the input at the earlier stage with their enough capital.

6. The Foreign Structure¡¯s Input on Organic Production

Some foreign enterprises and individuals are investing in agriculture in China, developing organic food.

7. International Projects¡¯ Input on Organic Production

As for international projects, the governments or institutions should make their efforts to obtain some organic farming projects from the foreign foundations, the government foreign Cooperation sectors or the enterprises. They should also take part in some international activities such as IFOAM International Conference, International Organic Food Trading Fair and so on so that they can have the opportunities to acknowledge and contact with the international snuctures and obtain the projects.
